Book Review: How to Be Invisible, by J.J. Luna

    Synopsis

If you want to protect your privacy and assets, this book and accompanying website (www.howtobeinvisible.com) area must. Is useful not only for activists, but also for everyday people looking to protect themselves from identity theft. A wide range of topics are covered, and solutions are usually simple and practical, though some are more time/money intensive.

    Author's Background

Luna is a former businessman and current privacy and information security consultant living in Spain's Canary Islands. According to his official biography, he has been developing and practicing methods to achieve practical anonymity, both in terms of your physical person, and your fiscal/information transactions.

    Content Outline

The topic material in How To Be Invisible is divided into almost two dozen chapters, and covers everything from how to obtain a post office box, to how to purchase vehicles, etc. anonymously. There are also a couple of sections on computer security, but I personally think that my work on this topic is more reliable, complete, and up to date. That said, what the book lacks in digital anonymity/security, is more than made up for by the quality of it's "real world" solutions, which are really what the book is focused on in the first place.

In addition to the book itself, Mr. Luna has set up a very good companion website that offers answers to reader questions, additional privacy tips, and, perhaps most importantly, some inexpensive (as the privacy market goes at least) services related to mail forwarding and organizing LLCs and "shell companies" in the state of New Mexico.

    Where to Buy/Other Works

You can purchase How To Be Invisible on Amazon.com, or (I'm assuming) your local bookstore. Also by J.J. Luna: Work From Home at Any Age (Release Date: TBA)

    Book's Rating

My rating system is simple: There are five stars, one being the worst, five being the highest. Period. End of story. This book easily gets my top rating of five stars because it is so well written and vitally important to everyone, given today's "big brother" politics and identity thieves out there.
